The information given on this site forms part of the rules and conditions. The PowerShot S90 Street Photography Challenge photo competition is open to everyone of all skill levels, excluding Canon Singapore Pte Ltd employees and all judges. This exclusion also includes affiliates, subsidiaries and advertising and promotion agencies, as well as their immediate family members (spouses, parents, children, siblings and their respective spouses, regardless of where they live) or persons living in the same households of such individuals, whether or not related. Entries must be made using the official Entry Form available on this site and is deemed acceptance of the Terms and Conditions.
Competition Entry:
Entry into this competition is free and open to residents of Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam, but limited to 3 images per Entrant.
Image Submission Format:
Image Submissions must be in JPEG format with a maximum file size of 1MB each. Entrants must be aware that all images will be judged on a computer screen. Should your image be shortlisted for final judging you will be asked to submit a high resolution 300 dpi file within 7 days. Failure to do so may disqualify you from the competition.
Acknowledgement:
All correctly submitted entries and images will receive an email confirmation, sent by Canon Singapore Pte Ltd to the email address provided on the online entry form.
Announcements:
Winners of the PowerShot S90 Street Photography Challenge photo competition will be announced in February 2010 and all results will be published on this site.
Eligible Images:
Images may be shot on any film or digital camera and every submission must be a single work of original material taken by the entrant. Any discrepancy in entrant's particulars may result in disqualification from the competition, at the sole discretion of the organiser.
Digital manipulation of images:
Digital image manipulation is allowed, to optimise an image, but adding or removing key elements of the composition is not allowed. Composite or montage images, from more than one original image, are not eligible. Entrants of prize-winning images may be required to produce the original image before the final prize is given. Failure to comply with these rules may result in disqualification of your entry. Images may not contain defamatory, obscene, provocative, sexually explicit, objectionable or inappropriate content, at the sole discretion of the organiser. Photographing the work of others is allowed but only if as an object in its environment. Full-frame close ups of someone else's original art is not allowed.
Age of images:
Images shot within the past few years are acceptable but image content must be contemporary. For example, cityscapes and major landmarks should be recognisably current.
Image Copyright:
All images submitted to the competition, including winning entries, will remain with the copyright of the photographer. The entrant must be the sole author and owner of the copyright of all images entered. It is the legal responsibility of the entrant, and not the organisers, to ensure that they comply with these ownership and copyright requirements and own the rights to reproduction of their images. Entries that do not fulfill this criteria will be deemed ineligible and disqualified. Where this is discovered after the prize has been awarded, the prize must be returned or refunded by the entrant. Entrants agree to fully indemnify Canon Singapore Pte Ltd and its employees in respect of all royalties, fees and any other monies owing to any person by reason of the entrant breaching any of the foregoing.
Image Usage:
Canon Singapore Pte Ltd reserve the right to freely reproduce and exhibit all entered images in all media, in connection with this competition. Should images be desired for further use in unrelated media permission and fees will be agreed with the photographer in advance. Privacy: By entering this Contest, you consent to the collection, use and sharing of information about you by Canon Singapore Pte Ltd for the purpose of administering this Contest in accordance with our privacy policy at http://www.canon.com.sg/section/privacypolicy/
Returns Policy:
All images entered will not be returned. Staff and judges will not be held responsible for any loss or damage to photographic entries.
Judging:
The competition consists of two (2) rounds of evaluation based on the defined Judging Criteria. All decisions made by the organisers and judges are final and binding.
Disqualification:
All entries must meet the following criteria or they risk disqualification:

- Canon Singapore Pte Ltd is not responsible for lost, interrupted or unavailable network server or other connections, miscommunications, failed telephone or computer or telephone transmissions or technical failure, jumbled, scrambled or misdirected transmissions, or other error of any kind whether human, mechanical or electronic.
- Entrants discovered to tamper with or abuse any aspect of this Contest, as determined by Canon will be disqualified.
- Should any part of this Contest be compromised by virus, bugs, non-authorised human intervention or other causes beyond the control of Canon Singapore Pte Ltd, which, in the sole opinion of Canon Singapore Pte Ltd, corrupts, or impairs the administration, security, fairness or proper entry into the Contest, Canon Singapore Pte Ltd reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to suspend or terminate the competition.
- Canon Singapore Pte Ltd reserves the right to disqualify any entry that it feels was placed due to tampering, abuse or fraud during the voting period.
Limitation of Liability:
Entrants, by participating in the competition, agree to release, discharge and hold harmless Canon Singapore Pte Ltd, and each of their respective partners, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising agencies, agents and their employees, officers, directors, and representatives from any claims, losses, and damages arising out of their participation in this competition or any competition-related activities and the acceptance and use, misuse, or possession of any prize awarded hereunder. Furthermore the organisers are not responsible for any problems with or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any on-line entry to be received on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any Web site, human errors of any kind, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to entrants' or any other persons' computers related to or resulting from participation, uploading or downloading of any materials related to this competition. - Participants also agree (a) to be bound by these Official Rules; (b) that the all decisions made by the judges are final on all matters relating to the competition; and (c) that Canon Singapore Pte Ltd may use the winning photographs along with each winner's name, photograph, likeness, and/or voice in any publicity or advertising relating to the competition or future promotions without compensation or approval.
Laws Governing:
This competition will be governed by Singapore law and all entrants submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Singapore courts.
