The weather sealing and dust resistance also eclipses that of existing models. The sheer joy of using the flagship APS-C DSLR appeals to all professional users.
  • 20.2 Megapixels APS-C CMOS Sensor
  • ISO 100-16000 (Expandable to 51200)
  • Dual DIGIC 6 Image Processor
  • 10 fps Shooting and 65-point all cross-type AF sensor
  • New metering system with approx. 150,000 - pixel RGB +IR metering sensor

65-point All Cross-Type Sensor

The camera comes equipped with a 65-point All Cross-Type AF system*. All the points are cross-type sensors that work with an aperture of f/5.6, allowing fast and accurate focusing without being easily affected by the texture or details of the subject. In addition to the f/5.6 cross-type sensor, the central point boasts a dual cross-type AF point with a second AF sensor of f/2.8. The centre AF point can also be used at an aperture of f/8. The AF sensor comes with high sensitivity specifications up to -3EV.

* The number of active AF points and cross-type points varies depending on the lens that is used.

Red: f/2.8 & f/5.6 Cross-type Sensor

Blue: f/5.6 Cross-type Sensor

10 fps Continuous Shooting

Shock absorption is better than before as the up and down motion of the mirror is driven and controlled by a motor. Stable images with no mechanical shake can be captured while achieving a high AF tracking speed of 10 fps.

* Max. approx. 9.5 shots/sec. with EOS iTR AF.

Excellent Tracking Performance

Coupled with a 150,000-pixel RGB+IR metering sensor, the EOS iTR AF is capable of capturing subjects in motion and of predicting their movements. Moreover, the AI Servo AF III allows for the customization of the method of prediction. Apart from being able to fine-tune settings such as subject-tracking sensitivity, acceleration/deceleration tracking, AF point auto switching, optimal settings can also be fixed for a variety of sports simply by selecting from 6 types of preset options. With its high precision predictive capability, the AF system will keep capturing reliable images of continuous shot subjects.

Newly Improved Dual Pixel CMOS AF

The camera is equipped with a Dual Pixel CMOS AF that offers rapid and comfortable AF during Live View Shooting and Movie Shooting, made possible with the image plane phase-difference AF. Video recording performance is improved even further on the EOS 7D Mark II. AF speed adjustment and subject tracking sensitivity can now be customised while smoother video recording is possible with the improved AF.

Diverse Photographic Functions

The Timer functions provide new photo opportunities. The Interval Timer is a function to take pictures at a set interval and frequency. It is convenient for effects such as combining continuous shots of the starry sky to depict the movement trajectory of a star. The Bulb Timer keeps the shutter open for up to a maximum period of 99 hours 59 minutes and 59 seconds. In addition, the camera is also equipped with the Multiple Exposures and HDR functions as on the EOS-1D X and EOS 5D Mark III.
