Canon Delivers Outstanding Imaging Performance for Professionals with Highly Anticipated Ultra Wide-Angle Lens EF16-35mm f/2.8L III USM With a large aperture of f/2.8 for brilliant brightness and significant improvements to the build quality, the EF16-35mm f/2.8L III USM promises stunning image quality for ultra wide-angle shots from 16mm to 35mm.

SINGAPORE, 25 August 2016 – Canon today announced the launch of EF16-35mm f/2.8L III USM, an upgrade from the esteemed EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM which was vastly popular and highly regarded among professional photographers and photography enthusiasts. Imbued with advanced lenses, imaging technology and superior build quality, the EF16-35mm f/2.8L III USM is able to attain outstanding image quality and ensure durability for high levels of performance even in challenging environments.

"Designed to complement the advanced enhancements in camera technology, the EF16-35mm f/2.8L III USM is an ideal fit for ultra-high resolution DSLRs like the EOS 5D Mark IV and EOS 5DS/5DS R. The lens is well-suited for wide-angle shots as the large f/2.8 aperture will ensure the delivery of bright and impeccable quality images, even in dimly lit environments." said Naohiko Hayashi, Senior Director and General Manager for Regional ICP Sales and Marketing, Canon Singapore.

Improved image quality and fully compatible with Canon EOS range
The EF16-35mm f/2.8L III USM combines two large-diameter double-surface aspheric Glass Mold (GMo) lenses, one-ground aspheric lens, and two Ultra Low Dispersion (UD) lenses to deliver outstanding image quality from the centre to the edge of the frame. Distortion and chromatic aberration – common in wide-angle lenses – is also greatly reduced, enabling users to utilise the versatile EF16-35mm f/2.8L III USM to shoot a wide range of subject matters including architecture, astrophotography, and wedding photography.

With its SubWavelength Structure Coating (SWC) and Air Sphere Coating (ASC), flaring and ghosting effects that commonly occurs around the periphery of ultra wide-angle lens will be substantially suppressed, allowing users to obtain maximum image quality. The nine-blade circular aperture also enables the lens to easily achieve an even and attractive background bokeh effect.

A hardy lens built to last for tough environments
Constructed with the high standards of an L-series lens, the EF16-35mm f/2.8L III USM is equipped with an enhanced mechanical structure for better vibrational and shock resistance quality. Built to help photographers withstand challenging conditions, dust-proof and drip-proof structuring has been applied to the key areas of the lens, such as the mount, the switch panel, zoom ring and focus ring. With these in place, the sensitive internal components are protected from the harsh external elements.

In addition, a special fluorine coating is applied to the foremost and rearmost lens surfaces, to prevent oil and moisture from adhering to the lenses, and can be simply wiped off with a dry cloth without requiring a solvent.
